Ondo Church Abduction Worshippers Freed after N9 Million Ransom

Six worshippers abducted from a Celestial Church in Uso community, Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State, have been released from captivity.

The victims regained their freedom on Monday night after being released in Ilado community, Akure North Local Council Area.

Sources reported that a ransom of N9 million was paid to the abductors prior to the release of the worshippers.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the abduction by operatives of the Command.

Lawal noted that five of the abducted worshippers were pregnant women and one was physically challenged, expressing concern that a church premises had effectively been turned into a maternity center.

Following the incident, the police chief advised religious centers to suspend night worship due to ongoing security challenges in the state.
