The Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, has disclosed that the engagement of 9,974 security guards is part of proactive measures aimed at preventing vandalism and destruction of government property in the state.
Speaking at the passing-out parade of the first batch of security personnel at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, Governor Namadi explained that the security personnel would safeguard public facilities, including schools, hospitals, courts, and water supply projects.
“The personnel will be deployed under three indigenous private security companies assigned to different senatorial zones,” he stated.
Namadi emphasized the importance of the initiative in protecting the significant investments made by the government in public infrastructure.
“The initiative is designed to protect the investments made in these public facilities. We have witnessed rampant destruction of these institutions by vandals who steal windows, furniture, and other essential materials in schools, courts, water projects, hospitals, among others. As a responsible government, we have taken proactive steps to prevent such losses,” he said.
The Governor urged the newly trained security guards to discharge their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism, reassuring them of the government’s commitment to their welfare and support.
Governor Namadi further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to safeguarding and maintaining public facilities across Jigawa State.
