Three Hoodlums Killed in Imo Police Attack

On Sunday, the Imo State Police Command repelled an attack by hoodlums at the Njaba Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters in Umuakah.

In a statement on Monday, the spokesman for the command, ASP Henry Okoye, said three of the hoodlums were neutralized during the successful repellent action.

Okoye said the attackers arrived in three Sport Utility Vehicles, SUVs, and immediately launched a fierce attack on the headquarters with sporadic gunshots.

In response, the ever-vigilant operatives quickly established defensive positions and fought the attackers. The result was the neutralisation of three attackers.

The surviving intruders, said to have taken multiple gunshot wounds, retreated into nearby bushes.

During the operation, our forces recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza,” the spokesman said.

He said this is even as the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Mr. Aboki Danjuma, led an aggressive operation now aimed at arresting the fleeing hoodlums in order to bring them to justice.

The spokesman, who underlined the admiration of Danjuma for the operatives’ gallantry, told the public that the Command was still committed to improving internal security in the state.

He promised to continue with the command to make decisive actions against “any threat to public peace.”.
